About Us
In 1986 Bob Pike, a pioneer in wheelchair tennis and ADA law in
Portland founded Oregon Wheelchair Tennis Association
(OWTA), November of 2001 the organization expanded to
Northwest Wheelchair Tennis Association (NWTA). NWTA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities for. those individuals interested in developing their skills, knowledge and abilities at all levels of one of the fastest growing sports of wheelchair tennis.
Our current programs include wheelchair
tennis clinics instructed by professional
tennis coaches, wheelchair tennis
tournaments and special wheelchair
tennis events. When available NWTA
members try to help provide equipment
including sports chairs and tennis rackets
for these individuals’ allowing them to
discover the possibilities and value in the
fun sport of wheelchair tennis.
Our members range from first-time
players of all ages and skills to
Paralympic-level athletes,
including David Wagner and Maylee
